April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking guitar and piano lessons at age seven. Her interest in creating songs began to grow. April's first song was Different. It was written when she was 12 years old. As a teenager, April committed a large amount of time to writing lyrics and practising her musical skills. She started writing songs with her father at home in NY and LA within a short time. April began including other topics in Take My hand for the people in her life who are struggling with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart has a fan base of her own and is a lifestyle blogger under the well-known Ilia Clean Beauty brand. She was born without her left hand and that is one aspect of who she is, but it's far from the entirety of her story. As a result Lockhart's Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about her disability, but the focus isn't on her disability either. What's the message? That we all contain multitudes and that we are all unique and that we're far beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart with a short video message from Nashville's home, says that I do not intend to allow this to define me. I am far more than just my physical body. My daily life isn't affected by it. I just live my normal, everyday life and find my own solutions to problems. It's a huge part of my life, and it's imperative to talk about it. Lockhart, a real inspiration for self-acceptance generally and is currently on a lengthy process to attain it. She has been through times when she was unsure about dressing in certain styles that showed her arms. Today, she wears whatever she wants and posts photos in those outfits to social media with pride. She says that self-love is a journey. I'm not sure if it will ever be over. But I think that's with anyone, no matter what their issue may be. It's essential to have those that know and can relate to you. They will be able to remind you of what you are worried about.
