April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, began taking guitar and piano classes at age seven. Her interest in making music was ignited. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote at the age of 12. The year she turned 14 was when she was a huge devotee of time composing songs and practicing her musical skills. The songwriting began with her father in NY and LA soon after. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the song, such as the Take my Hand song for some of her friends, like peer-pressure disabilities and even teenage suicide. Lockhart has a partnership with top clean-skin brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle blogger with her own growing following. Her disability is a part of her character, but it's not all of the image. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability through her Instagram page however she doesn't concentrate on it. What is the message? The message? That we each contain multitudes, that our identities and physical selves may not be as they appear. Lockhart declared in video form that she does not want to be defined solely by her disability. She does not want to work as a disability advocate one who focuses only on it. There are many different aspects to Lockhart. My day-today life is not affected by it. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with my own solutions to issues. Since it's part of me, it's something that's worthy of discussion. Self-acceptance is a long marathon but Lockhart is truly an inspiration regarding this issue. Lockhart admits that she goes through phases when it comes to her body. She was uncertain about clothing choices which exposed her arms. Today, she wears anything she'd like. She also posts her pictures to social media. Self-love, according to her, is a kind of journey. "I don't think it's possible to be in that place," she said. It's a trip, but I'm not convinced that you will ever make it to the end. It's important to have people in your life who know and understand you. They'll be able to remind you about the issues you're concerned about.
