April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July. She started guitar and piano classes at age seven. Her interest in songwriting was sparked. April Lockhart composed her very first song, Different at the age of twelve. When she was 14, April spent much time writing her lyrics, and perfecting her musical capabilities. The songwriting began with her father in NY and LA soon after. April also began to include different topics related to some of her peers who are dealing with such things as peer pressure disabilities and even teens who commit suicide through the songs"Take my Hand. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer with a growing fan base. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia together, in addition to being a lifestyle expert. Lockhart was born with no left hand and that is part of who she is--but it's hardly her whole story. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability through her Instagram page but she doesn't place it in the spotlight of the account. What message is it trying to convey? The message? That we each contain multitudes, that our bodies and identities don't always reflect what appear. It's not my intention to let that be the only thing that defines me. I don't want to become a person who is a disability-related influencer where that's all I talk about since there are numerous other aspects of me Lockhart states in video form from her home in Nashville. The fact that it's not affecting my normal life. I just do things normally, and I've discovered my own method of adjusting to things. It's a big aspect of my existence, so it is important that we talk about it. Self-acceptance runs for life however Lockhart is truly an inspiration for this aspect. She has been through times when she felt uncomfortable in sporting certain clothes that exposed her arms. She wears what she likes and proudly posts pictures of herself in the outfits she wears on social media. She claims that self-love is a process. I'm not entirely sure that you'll ever make it to the finish line. However, I believe that's the case with everyone with whatever their insecurity is. People you spend time with that truly understand you and see right into your heart, are the ones who will remind you what is important.
